Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7/17/2026
We respect your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA.
Our promise: we do not sell or share your information
Any names, email addresses, phone numbers, and other information you voluntarily provide to this site are never sold, rented, traded, or shared with any company or third party for marketing, advertising, analytics, or any other purpose — except where we are required to disclose information by a court of law, subpoena, or other valid legal process.
Information we collect
- Submissions you provide — when you light a candle, post a prayer, or create a memorial, we store the name, dedication, and optional notes you enter.
- Sponsor contact email — collected only when you sponsor a memorial, used to confirm and manage your sponsorship.
- Technical data — basic request data (IP, user agent) processed transiently for security and abuse prevention.
- Cookies — strictly necessary cookies always; analytics and marketing only with your consent. See our Cookie Policy.
Legal bases (GDPR)
- Consent — for non-essential cookies and optional analytics.
- Contract — to provide memorial sponsorship you request.
- Legitimate interests — site security, abuse prevention, and basic operation.
How we use information
To display prayers and memorials you submit, fulfill sponsorships, secure the site, and improve it. We do not sell personal information.
Sharing
We share data only with infrastructure providers (hosting, database, email) acting as processors on our behalf to prove and improve our offering.
Retention
Public submissions remain visible until removed on request. Sponsor emails are retained while the sponsorship is active and for a reasonable period thereafter for record-keeping.
Your rights
GDPR (EEA/UK): access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent.
CCPA/CPRA (California): right to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale/sharing, and limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA.
To exercise any right, contact us using the form provided in the menu on the homepage. You can also manage cookie consent at any time from the cookie consent banner.
International transfers
If data is transferred outside your region, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Children
The site is not intentionally directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
